How the articles on Fresh Start Beauty get written, what gets checked before publication, and what happens when something turns out to be wrong.

Who writes here

I do. Every article is written by Adriana Bellamy under her own name. Nothing here is bought from a content mill and nothing is published under a byline belonging to a person who does not exist.

Technique before product

The order matters. Almost every question that arrives as which product should I buy is really a question about technique, placement, or order of application. So the articles lead with the method and mention products only where the difference between two of them genuinely changes the result. A cream blush and a powder blush behave differently and that is worth explaining. Two cream blushes at different prices usually are not.

Where the confidence comes from

I try to say how sure I am and why. Something I have done every morning for two years gets stated plainly. Something I tried a handful of times gets labelled as that. Where a technique works for some face shapes or some eyelid types and not others, the article says which, rather than presenting one outcome as universal. Where the honest answer is that it comes down to preference, it says so instead of inventing a rule.

What is deliberately absent

No numeric scores or star ratings, because a number implies a precision that a subjective judgement does not have. No fabricated before and after images. No prices quoted as fact. No product cards for things I have not used. And no article that exists only because a product needed a page to link from.

Money and independence

Some links earn a commission, set out in full in the affiliate disclosure. No brand sees an article before it is published, no brand pays for coverage or for a particular conclusion, and a commission never decides whether something is recommended. Where the drugstore version does the same job, the article says so even though it pays less.

Corrections and updates

Formulations get reworked and products get discontinued, so some of what is here will age. Every page shows when it was last updated. A correction of substance is noted on the page rather than made silently, because a reader who acted on the old version deserves to know it changed.

Not medical or professional advice

This site is written by an enthusiastic amateur, not a licensed makeup artist or a clinician. Anything to do with skin reactions, irritation, or eye discomfort needs a professional who can look at it.
